April 29, 2010The reason I bought the Rubicon was for the lower gearing in the transfer case. However with the larger tires and 4.56 ring gear the 4.0:1 transfer case didn`t last too long. At 5000 miles on the jeep the transfer case chain that drives the front started to slip. At 8000 miles and steep inclines at MOAB the jeep was nicknamed "Clunker" due to the sound of the transfer case on every incline climb. Maybe the NP241 will work out better for a jeep with smaller tires (After it is rebuilt ofcourse) but I am not going to shortern another trip due to problems in the transfer case.
Now the excruciating wait because Advanced adaptors has a 6 week turnaround time from the time the order is placed. At least with the transfer case swap I will have to overide the factor lockers. The plans is when I play in the snow & mud I will be able to lock the differentials
