May 26, 2009I got myself a new set of rear axles...
A set of Superior Super 88 axles for my 8.8.
It is pretty trick as it solves a couple issues with putting this particular Ford axle under a Wrangler.
It does away with the c-clips, with a slick c-clip eliminator.
It add almost 2 inches of width, which was mostly lost with the axle switch.
It is like 135% stronger than stock axles, which is like 105% stronger than the dana 35 axle it replaced. So it is like 250-300% stronger than a standard dana 35 axle shaft.
It has a dual bolt pattern for when I got to a Warn front hub system(a future want).
Very large bearings, 3/4 ton tomkin bearings. Same as the Dana 60 uses.
Good for 40 inch tires, I''m told.
This is almost a drop in mod.
The only issues are that I needed to take the axles to a shop to have the 3/4 ton bearings pressed on, and I need to grind an end off the axle tube for the c-clip eliminator to bolt on. No welding.
