December 28, 2007You will love the peice of mind you get with the 8.8, knowing it is darn near unbreakable with moderate tires on it.
The disc brakes are worth the upgrade by itself.
A few things:
-Very important-Weld your tubes. Use nickel rod.
-Did you get a limited slip? They work pretty well on everything but rocks
-It has a real thin cover, get a armor cover.(look at Ruff Stuff, these are hugely strong)
-The pumkin hangs down 2 inches farther than the turdy5 does. You will hit it a bit more.(get that armor cover)
-An sye/cv driveshaft is in your future.
-It is 1 1/2 inches narrower(3/4 inch on each side)the tire rim might rub on the brake shield a bit. My balancing weights were rubbing.
-The pumkin is a lot bigger than the 35 is. You might find clearance at the gas tank tight.
-It has much larger tubes than the 35. On my leaf springed YJ with an sua setup, with no modding I would have lost an inch of lift, expensive lift too. I am useing MORE boomerangs with 3/4 inch lift to compensate.
Post up your progress! And questions.
When your done we will get you a membership in the Bros 88 jeep club.
