January 6, 2008Tom, info is scarce and there is nothing that strays from the norm, and my setup IS NOT THE NORM. There is a HUGE RV consignment lot/parts store/service center about 8 miles from my house. I go visit them ALOT after doing research and 'chat' about what best to do. I'm having issues finding 'smaller' A/C units. I'd like a 7000 btu for the sleeping area alone and a 13.5 btu in the back. Can't find a small one.... go figure. It truely is 'make it up as we go'.
I am being very mindfull of weight. The trailer weighs 4400 now when empty and so far I really haven't added any weight - just re-arranged stuff. Of course the tanks fill of water adds about 700 lbs, but my plan is to fill them on site whenever possible and travel empty. The waste tanks are in the lower frame rails and centered as much as possible since I will be carrying thier contents with me on the way home..... I'm hoping to end up about 7500 lbs without the Jeep and about 12k with....we'll see.
Steve - I know. Haven't been spending any time on the Jeep. But I'm switching gears now. Cleaned up the shop and put away all the trailer toys. Will start hacking off the front of the Jeep frame this week and hope to have the new axle in the front by Feb. Rear by March gives me 1 or 2 test runs before Moab. Time is ticking away.
Dbarr, Thanks!! I'll check out the links as I'm looking for some good A/C prices. I'm buying so much, my local place set me up with a commercial account and give me 15% off whatever I get.
