August 22, 2007Anyone here take their rock sliders off their Rubicon and put some Sahara style steps on instead?

August 22, 2007Would really defeat the purpose can't see steps on a Rubicon...Is it 2 wheel drive
August 26, 2007Here's the deal, I went to the dealership and drove both an automatic and a manual. They had a silver x with the manual but I didn't want a silver one, I wanted a red one. They weren't able to find a red x with manual, infinity and a hardtop. I told them I wasn't in a hurry, "when you find one call me" well two days later they called me and said they had a red one in. I went out there and it turns out to be this Rubicon. I didn't want to pay that much for a vehicle and was about to give in and get the silver x. The salesman knew I really wanted a red one so he was pushing the red Rubicon. To make this already long story short I said if you can sell the red Rubi at the price of the silver x I'll do it. Well the red Rubi is in my garage. I don't really have a use for lockers and sway bar release I just so happen to have it. Don't get me wrong its a very sweet ride but I'll guarantee it'll never get hung up on a rock, it'll see some trails but not many. Steps would make it much easier for my 5'4" wife to get in especially after a little lift and tires. So for me, its not defeating the purpose.
August 26, 2007Don't stress, but most of here would give a few fingers and toes for a red Rubicon. With that said, sure you can mount on them and remove the sliders. BTW, and not to be rude. but my wife is 5'4" and I MAKE her climb into my XJ with 33's.
August 26, 2007Well you can put steps on the frames are the same the only dif is what is bolted on to it
August 26, 2007Sorry about ruffling the feathers. I saw the pic on the RTI ramp and got the wrong impression. It was all in fun for sure. You have a Jeep so therefore the mods are endless and I am sure all the parts are interchangable between models. Post some pics when you get them on. Love the Red and yes we I would love to have a Rubi in the garage.
August 26, 2007These rockers skids would work great for your JK.
It's like killing 2 birds with 1 stone!
August 26, 2007I know it's new, but when it comes time for resale, you will be a lot better off with the Rubicon vs. X!
I agree, I would love to have a red Rubicon in my garage!!
August 27, 2007If you do swap out your rubi rocker guards, and you want to sell them drop me a line.
BTW nice job on getting the Rubi!
September 1, 2007My wife is 5'4" and she was jumping in and out of my XJ with 6" of lift and 35's. But we made my rocker slides to serve as both a rock slide and a step.
Heres a few pics
In the process of painting them
I thought I had some pics of them mounted on the XJ.
Don't worry we have a bunch of customers at the dealership I work at who has replaced the rocker slides with the tubular side steps.
September 1, 2007Hey Rob, got any cheap rocker panels or sliders laying around for my TJ
