July 21, 2006Maybe if you flat tow. But my Dodge 1500 had some serious issues getting my Jeep up and over the Ozarks. If I had it loaded with camping gear, sure it could do it, but it was lots of work. With the 2500 CTD you forget anything is even back there. I agree that any of the big 3 make and OK truck at this point. BUT you'll never find me in a rice truck.

July 23, 2006ahhhh glad to see the DTW boy's back me up. Did I mention that the dodge weighs 10,000 lbs and which is several hundered pounds more that Ford and Chevy and still gets better gas mileage.
July 24, 2006my 03 hemi 2500 i had before the jeep. towed alot. i had a trailer full of washer and dryers for a friend one time never knew it was back there. i want a CTD over any other truck.
but not a new one...
April 3, 2007Wow, I guess I just dont make that much money, I got an 84 K5 Blazer with the 6.2L diesel, gets 25 -30 MPG, and tows the Jeep like its nothing. Its an old ARMY CUCV so I have all the tow points and hookups, and I aint afraid to wheel it either. Its running 35" Pro Comps with 4:10 gears and detroit Lockers front and back, turned the fuel pressure up a tad and advanced the pump and its an Interstate screamer, lock in the hubs and put the NP205 in low and wheel with the best of them, and if its dark, I've towed 2 Jeeps together and made it home before the sun came up! OH total investment? $1500 for the Blazer, 1500 for wheels & tires, $1450 for R&P and Lockers and a few hundred for injectors and glow plugs. So around $5,000 and some work. Not bad for a good tow rig, and a capable off road toy. Its also my DD.
April 3, 2007Old Army BLazers are awesome! I'd love to find one, they're darn near indestructable. The only problem you'd have towing is the short wheelbase and maybe the height. You'd be better off with a longer wheelbase truck, but it'll do if you're careful!
April 5, 2007use your jeep you panzies, just make sure you have good stopping distance
April 5, 2007haha yea. I use my 1/2 ton hemi to tow the jeep. no problem at all.
April 6, 2007about anything should be able to tow it........gas/diesel a nice 12v 5-speed CTD would be nice if you like HP/torque & 18-20+ mpg towing. used to hook the 2500 upto a gooseneck with farm tractors and you never knew it was back there passing people. Plus the are nice, take it to the strip, drive home hook it to the trailer and go wheel.
But they get addicting, more HP, more HP.
October 10, 2007stumblefoot i was thinking of geting a k5 to tow my jeep now that im using it alot more, how dose it do ever have any problems with it? i just like them since i can take 4 people whith there stuff and still have at least part of the top off.
