October 12, 2004Why do trailers sway from side to side? This usually can be fixed by moving more weight over the toung. Is there any other way to stop this?
October 12, 2004Some basic but good trailer towing info...
Id rather be in Moab. Rubicon...been there, want to do it again and again!
October 12, 2004Good info on that site. Balance is usually the biggest factor. more tongue weight can help or hurt the situation. A sway control could help and usually does. Most are a friction type that basically limits the "free" side to side travel. Load levellers can also help. Good luck.
October 12, 2004If the trailer does not usally sway, then it is the placement of the weight over the axles of the trailer in comparison to the hitch. If the trailer has always do this then it could quite possibly be that the axles are not in correct geometry to the trailer. Also if there is too much weight on the rear axle of the tow rig the steering can be less effective and might also cause fi****ailing.
