I knew you guys would come through
I have the 5.2. I am towing Shayna's YJ, 3800 lbs. I may have a strong mixture of antifreeze.
I have a new belt in the trips parts box. I will try that after I try the other suggestions. I have a new water pump in the parts box too.
I have not re-geared and I am at 3.73 with 32's. When I am towing OD off, I run at 2750 rpms at like 65-70. The ZJ rides better towing
. It really does great just the temp.
I ran with the AC on last trip to see how hot it will get and it never got any hotter. I have used the heater to help cool on inclines when I thought it was getting to hot and that works great.
I have had times when we stop that the resevoir would over flow pretty good spuing radiator fluid all over and the temp would peak out on the gauge then cool back after a few minutes.
With summer on the way and more trips to go on I want to feel more comfortable with the engine temp.
No one really said if the 180 degree thermostat will help.
I will let you guys know what happens here, towing again next weekend to Pismo.
I will be ripping out the 1 ton steering and going back to stock steering this weekend. I will tackle this while I am all dirty and grimy.
