May 18, 2011Just wondering with the economy the way it is how has it effected your vehicle. Do you drive it less, not doing any more modifications or even selling or sold it?

May 18, 2011I`m selling mine as with all the added weight from armor and stuff, it gets maybe 12-15 mpg on a good day, but replacing it with a JK.
May 18, 2011Not really affected my trail rig, but there will be less trips this year due to tow rig getting it there. I drive a 98 Saturn to work and around town that gets 36mpg. Used to drive a Jeep, but that is out now due to mpg`s. That and the fact that I have 4 kids that are driving now...
May 19, 2011Mine has been parked except for wheeling only. I now drive a 31mpg Saturn coupe.
As for trading your TJ for a JK to save on gas, don`t. My 4dr JK only got 12-14 city/15-17 hwy. Not worth the trade in my honest opinion.
May 19, 2011The jeep doesn`t see much road time. I drive my tow rig, 2010 F350 daily.
May 19, 2011Luckily for now, the Jeep and the Ram 2500 aren`t being driven, just the wife driving her altima which gets like 25mpg/35mpg. The government is paying for all the fuel I`m using right now
May 19, 2011I have my Jeep parked at my vacation house in the Sierra nevada mountains. At most I get up there 2 times a month. I either fire it up or most recently go play in the snow. The trails will probably be dry and open in September 2011. With so much snow on the Rubicon Trail I doubt it will open at all this year. So the Gas prices have not been the influence of not driving the Jeep so much. I will have to take it to the Smog station in order to register it.
May 19, 2011Like 89Wrangler said, hasn`t affected the rig much and I haven`t put off any trips for things other than schedule conflicts. Maybe I can blame the economy for not letting me do that blown LS6 upgrade, but since that was never a reality anyway, maybe not.
And Daniel, although I appreciate the intended humor in your comment about the government paying for the fuel, in reality its just one more item they add to OUR tab and as a tax payer, married to a tax payer, raising a tax payer that will have an even bigger burden......I say enough is enough!
May 20, 2011Well I already have the JK, which is the wife`s rig but she`s bored with it, so I`ll use that to wheel with and pay for parts and a downpayment on something else.
May 20, 2011LOL Eric, I feel ya... Believe me this whole national debt has got me upset also, problem is I don`t think it will ever get better it only seems to compound at every turn. Was just implying that I am deployed right now and the vehicles I am driving are fueled with Mogas(military version of gas) and JP8(military version of diesel). Believe me if I could convince them to to stop spending our tax dollars over here I would, unfotunately I am just a cog on a gear in a massive machine.
May 20, 2011Amen Daniel! And rest assured that regardless of the choices that the powers that be make, my family respects, thanks, prays for and totally love all you that sacrifice so much for us here back at home.
(Sorry to hijack the thread, but you can`t talk about the state of the economy without referring to the reason we`re in this spot)
