June 15, 2010Hey everyone looking for ideas to change out my tranny and tcase. Am currently running a 350TBI with a th350/np205. I was thinking of maybe a 700R4 for the low first gear and a 208 for now am on a bit of a budget. Wanting to get a better gear ratio and trying to not have to buy crazy expensive adapters. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on what i can put in that will bolt right on, am tracking on having to change my drive lines out to different lengths depending on what I put in. thanks again

June 15, 2010Are you running passenger side or drivers side drop front axle? Passenger side gives you the option of a Dana 300 transfer case.
91 YJ with just enough mods to make me a danger to myself....
June 15, 2010I really love my 700R4, but make sure you get a good shifter with it. I have an Art Carr and it is deluxe. As far as T-cases go......Atlas 4spd.
If at first you don`t secede try, try again!
June 15, 2010changing to a 700 for the lower first gear is not what id recomend. i seriously doubt you would really even be able to feel much of a difference after the swap. only reason id recomed the 700 would be for the overdrive.
best bang for your buck? keep the 350 and get a 203/205. jeds machine may have the most cost effective one last i checked it was in the 600 dollar range. and it wouldnt be hard to source a 203 box/adapter. you would get the 2:1 and 4:1 ratios. one drawback is the size/weight, but i doubt you could break it.
now if you werent on a budget. go atlas and forget about it.
